An excerpt from chapter 22.
“In 2011 the movie Soul Surfer hit theaters. The movie, based on the true story of Bethany Hamilton, moved audiences across the nation. How could a thirteen-year-old girl lose her arm in a shark attack and go on to become a professional surfer? How could this same girl not lose hope, not lose faith in God?
She stood firm in her faith because her faith was real. She did not just follow a religion; she had a relationship with Jesus. She clung to the Lord and trusted Him with her life, with the attack, and with her future.
Throughout the Bible, the Old and New Testaments, God exhorts us to stand firm. . .”
“And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast” (1 Peter 5:8-10).
Are you bearing up under your current trial and standing firm?
